Johnson Stellar in OT Win. Eastview Girls Varsity Defeats Lakeville North 2-1
Lauren Johnson turned aside 36 Panther shots and Avery Chesek’s shorthanded goal in overtime gave the Girls Varsity team an opening night victory over Lakeville North 2-1. Jessica Wilhelm tied the game with her first varsity goal in the second period with assists going to Lauren Speegle and Josie Holman. The girls will travel to Hastings Tuesday night to face the Raiders at 7:30pm. Thanks to all the students, family, and friends for coming out to the game! #challengeaccepted
Eastview Girls JV Hockey Team Defeats Lakeville North 2-0
The Eastview Girls Junior Varsity Hockey team battled to a 2-0 victory against Lakeville North Friday night at the Apple Valley Sports Arena.
Eastview jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first when Betsy Bjerke’s quick shot beat the goalie; assists from Emma Tritschler and Ellie Groebner. Eastview was outshot in the first period 7-6.
After a scoreless second period, Bjerke sealed the victory for Eastview with another goal; assists from Tritschler and Cady Schlundt.
Angie Lombardi excelled in net for Eastview, stopping all 22 Lakeville shots. Eastview ended the game with 13 shots.
The next game for the Lightening is at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday against Hastings at the Hastings Civic Arena.
GAME 2 - Tuesday 11/12/19
Lightning Girls Varsity defeats Hastings 10-0
Eastview scored two goals in the first minute of the game and didn't look back as they destroyed Hastings 10-0. Avery Chesek scored four goals, Mikayla Kelley and Lauren Speegle each had two, while Brynn Swenson and Josie Holman added one to lead the Lightning. Josie Ellingson had two assists with single helpers going to Natalie Bordson, Lainey Dwinell, Nora Stepan, Olivia Weinberg, Betsy Bjerke, and Kelley. Lauren Johnson and Angie Lombardi combined for the shutout in net with 17 saves.
This is the first time in EVGH history that the girls scored 10 goals in a game.
The Lightning move to 2-0 on the season with East Ridge coming to town Thursday night at 7:00pm. Come on out and cheer them on!
Eastview Girls JV Hockey Loses in OT
The Eastview Girls Junior Varsity Hockey team lost 3-2 in overtime to Hastings last night at the Hastings Civic Arena.
The Lightning jumped out early scoring two goals in the first period. Erin Hayward buried the first goal after receiving a beautiful pass from Chloe LaPlant. Then Emma Tritschler scored with assist from Hayward for a 2-0 lead.
In the second period, Hastings scored the only goal of the period making it a one-goal game, tied it up in the third period, and ultimately scored the game winner in overtime.
The next game for the Lightning is against East Ridge at 5:00 p.m. Thursday at the Apple Valley Sports Arena.
GAME 3 - Thursday 11/14/19
Girls Varsity Hockey beats East Ridge 4-3
Eastview Girls Varsity continue their winning ways with a 4-3OT thriller over East Ridge. Mikayla Kelley scored the game winner in overtime and added an assist for the 3-0 Lightning. Lauren Speegle, Brynn Swenson, and Nora Stepan also scored for the winners. Josie Holman, Katherene DeBoom, Avery Chesek, Larissa Hafley, and Stepan each added an assist. Thanks to all the students and friends for coming out! We appreciate your support! The girls travel to South St. Paul Saturday for a 7:00pm puck drop at Woog Arena.
Eastview Girls JV Hockey Triumphs Over East Ridge
Your Eastview Girls JV Hockey team secured its second win of the young season by defeating East Ridge 7-1 last night at the Apple Valley Sports Arena.
East Ridge jumped out in the lead, scoring the first and only goal of the opening period.
During the second period, Eastview’s Erin Hayward tied it up with an assist from Emma Tritschler. Just 55 seconds later, Hayward scored again, this time with an assist from Dani Farrington, giving the Lightning a 2-1 lead after two periods.
In the final period, Eastview feasted with goals from Chloe LaPlant (assisted by Farrington), Brynn Dihel (assisted by MacKenzie Henning and Ella Holm), and LaPlant again, assisted by Ellie Groebner), Meghan Keating (assisted by Hayward), and then Hayward finished the night off with her third goal of the night.
Eastview’s Angie Lombardi stopped 28 shots as the JV team improved to 2-1 on the year.
Next up for the Lightening is a game against South St. Paul at 5:00 p.m. Saturday at the Doug Woog Arena in South St. Paul.
GAME 4 - Saturday 11/16/19
Girls Varsity Hockey beats South Saint Paul 5 - 2
Eastview girls varsity extends their winning streak to four with a 5-2 victory on the road Saturday over South St. Paul. Lauren Johnson was outstanding in net turning aside 42 Packer shots and many high quality ones. Avery Chesek started the scoring in the first period on a nice feed from Natalie Bordson. Brynn Swenson converted on the power play in the second period to make it 2-0. In the third period, Mikayla Kelley scored on a nifty breakaway and Chesek added another shortly after to take a 4-0 lead. The Packers responded with two later in the third before Bordson scored scored an empty netter. Chloe Benadum had three assists and Josie Ellingson added one.
The Lightning continue their road trip to Eagan Tuesday night for a great South Suburban Conference match up! Puck drop at 7:15pm. #challengeaccepted
Eastview Girls JV Hockey Dominates South St. Paul 5-0!
Chloe LaPlant started the onslaught with a goal in the first period, assisted Erin Hayward. Eastview would continue to score with goals by Dani Farrington (assist from Chloe), Emma Tritschler (assists from Meghan Keating), and two goals by Meghan Keating, with help from Chloe LaPlant and MacKenzie Luce.
Angie Lombardi and Paige Williams combined for a shutout stopping 14 shots.
GAME 5 Tuesday 11/19/19
Girls Varsity Hockey falls to Eagan 3 – 1
Mikayla Kelley’s third period power play goal assisted by Nora Stepan was not enough as Eagan skated past Eastview 3-1 in a South Suburban Conference game Tuesday night in Eagan. Lauran Johnson made 26 saves for the Lightning. Shout out to the great student section for their support! Eastview goes to 4-1 on the season and hosts Totino Grace Thursday night at 7:00pm.
Girls Junior Varsity Hockey falls to Eagan 1 – 0Eastview fought an intensely close battle against Eagan. Paige Williams and Angie Lombardi were great in the net stopping 29 of 30 shots.
GAME 6 Thursday 11/21/19
GIRLS VARSITY HOCKEY · Girls Varsity Hockey beats Totino-Grace 3 – 0Mikayla Kelley scored two goals and added one assist as the Lightning defeated Totino Grace 3-0 at Apple Valley Sports Arena. Angie Lombardi earned an 18 saves shutout in her first varsity start. Avery Chesek added the other goal assisted by Nora Stepan. The win improves Eastview’s record to 5-1 on the season. Thank you to all the students for coming out to cheer them on! They travel to Rosemount for SSC action Saturday afternoon at 3:00pm.
GIRLS JUNIOR VARSITY HOCKEY · Eastview Girls JV Hockey Dominates in Win 6-1
The Eastview Girls JV Hockey team played its way to a 6-1 win against St. Paul/Henry Sibley last night at the Apple Valley Sports Arena.
The Lightning didn’t waste any time, jumping out to a 2-1 lead with goals from Meghan Keating and Laney Schwartz. Eastview outshot the Riveters 26-2 in the first period.
During the second period, Eastview continued its dominance going up 5-1 as Chloe LaPlant scored two goals and Keating added her second. After two periods, Eastview held a 42-5 shot advantage.
In the final period, Eastview’s Keating scored her third of the game and goalie Paige Williams shut the door for a 6-1 final. Eastview outshot the Riveters 66-8.
Next up for the Lightning is a showdown against Rosemount at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the Rosemount Community Center.
